Getting started
More detail on a control
Who can use it. Everyone who uses Summit Hub, on a phone, tablet or computer. The same help appears for clients on the pages they can see.
What it's for
Some buttons, tabs and figures need a sentence of explanation, and a phone has no way to "hover" to see one. A small ? sits next to the control instead, so the explanation is one tap away wherever you are.
When a button is greyed out, the reason is written in words beside it, or behind a ?, so you are never left guessing why you can't press it.
How to use it
- Tap or click the small ? next to the button, tab or figure you want to know more about.
- A short note appears just below it.
- Tap the ? again, tap anywhere else, or press Escape to close the note. Scrolling the page also closes it.
If you use a keyboard, press Tab to reach the ?, then Enter or Space to open it. A screen reader announces it as "More about" followed by the name of the thing it explains, and reads the explanation along with the control it belongs to.
What it affects
Nothing is changed by opening a note. It's only information, and it never moves what you were typing or where your cursor was.
Good to know
- Notes are plain text and short. If something needs a longer walk-through, the page links to its full guide.
- A greyed-out button with a written reason beside it will become usable once you do what the reason says, such as adding a line item or asking an owner for access.
- The note works the same inside a pop-up window as on the page.
